The alkaline diet, in addition to helping stabilize the pH of the body, offers more benefits to reach a healthy diet. Many of the foods recommended by the alkaline diet are rich in nutrients and low in calories. Likewise, it promotes the majority of organic foods based on plants and foods rich in vitamin C, selenium, iron and zinc; that especially relevant because  supports the health of the intestine and helps strengthen the immune system.

Not eating alkaline foods or not doing it frequently can decrease the levels of arachidonic acid, cousing inflammation that is directly related with heart disease and joint pain. In addition the alkaline diet helps avoid processed foods and refined sugars; which offer no nutritional benefit and both are common causes of diet-related diseases.

 Among the most alkaline foods are:

  1. Avocado
  2. Garlic
  3. Mustard leaves.
  4. Figs
  5. Ginseng
  6. Green tea
  7. Apple cider vinegar.
  8. Almonds
  9. Pumpkin seeds
  10. Tomatoes

 

Vegetables such as carrots, green beans, lettuce, spinach, broccoli, eggplant, peppers and onions are also alkaline foods.

Among the alkaline fruits are: pear, apple, apricot, pineapple, banana, also, tangerine, berry, red fruits, cherry, grape, citrus, melon, peach, and finally, raspberry, strawberry, raisins, plums, coconut and watermelons.
