The Risk And Threat Of Endocrine Disruptors

The risk and threat of endocrine disruptors:

In the last two decades there has been a growing awareness of the possible adverse effects of endocrine disruptors on both humans and animals. These chemicals are involved in many health problems such as:

– Malformations

– Reproductive disorders, both male and female

– Different types of cancer: breast cancer, prostate, liver …

– Alterations in the function of the immune and nervous system

– Obesity- Diabetes- Parkinson

– Thyroid disorders

– Neurological impacts

Regulations:

Since 2014, in San Francisco, the sale of water in plastic bottles has been prohibited throughout the city. Fines has been imposed of up to $ 1,000 to those who violate this regulation . Many national parks prohibit the sale of plastic bottles, as Concord does in Massachusetts. The Queen of England Elizabeth II, has banned the use of plastic bottles in real properties . However, the use of those toxic ingredients in our products remains legal for companies in many places. Unfortunately, it is up to us to do everything possible to avoid these hormone-altering chemicals.

What is an endocrine disruptor?

Endocrine disruptors are chemical substances that produce adverse effects on development, reproduction, neurology and the immune system in both humans and animals.

That is to say, chemical substances are capable of altering our hormonal balance and generating the interruption of physiological processes .In adition, It is important to rememver that the development of each stage of life is completely under the control of the hormones.

It is believed that the damage is more severe during prenatal exposure or at the beginning of pregnancy. Also keep in mind that the changes that occur during the stages of development are much less reversible than those that occur in an adult.

How do these chemicals alter the endocrine system?

The disruption of the endocrine system can occur in several ways.

-Some chemicals mimic a natural hormone, tricking the body into responding excessively to the stimulus or responding at inappropriate times .

– Other endocrine disruptors block the effects of a hormone from certain receptors .

– Others directly stimulate or inhibit the endocrine system and cause overproduction or underproduction of hormones (for example, excessive or underactive thyroid).

Where do we find endocrine disruptors?

Today they are present in hundreds of products that we use every day, ranging from plastic containers that contain food, drinks, detergents, toys, food … etc

The danger of bottled water

Dr. Nicolás Olea, Professor of Radiology and Physical Medicine of the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Granada. Published in the Environment International a work where 29 samples of bottled water were analyzed. Taking as a source the article published in Discovery Heath .

Substances that alter or inhibit hormones were found in all samples. These substances can be the cause of metabolic, immunological, neurological and infertility problems, as well as possible cancers of the thyroid, breast, prostate and testicles.

As stated in the article, the law does not oblige bottlers to declare their presence.

To conclude and after analyzing in the laboratory, the hormonal activity of 29 samples of bottled water marketed in Spain as “natural mineral water” and coming from different natural springs. The results indicate that all water samples have hormonal action.

Finally, we have to mention that Alkanatur has carried out a study on the components of our Alkanatur Drops jug . The result of this study, provides that our jug is free of any endocrine disruptor, or what is the same, does not release contaminants for health.
