Common issues with the Alkanatur Pitcher
Our pitcher is designed to improve the quality of tap water in a simple and practical way. Many of the issues we receive in Customer Service do not have to do with the product itself, but with small errors in its daily use.
In this article we review the most common mistakes when using the Alkanatur and how to solve them easily.
1. Space in the reservoir when attaching the filter
Sometimes the filter appears to be in place, but it is not fully adjusted and there is a small gap between the filter and the reservoir.
This can result in:
- Some of the water passes through without filtering.
- The filtering process is not uniform.
It should always be perfectly sealed, with no visible gaps.
Tip: after placing filter inside, press gently on a flat surface and check that it is fully fitted flush with the tank.
2. Not activating the filter correctly before the first use
Before you start using a new filter, it's imperative to activate it correctly.
If it is not activated:
- Water may taste different the first few uses.
- The performance of the filter may not be optimal.
Remember to always follow the activation instructions included with the filter (rinsing and first discard if applicable). This step is only done when the filter is new, but it is essential.
3. Leaving the jug with standing water while away
If you are going to be away for more than 3 days, it is important not to leave the jug with water inside.
Filtered water does not contain chlorine, so it does not have the natural preservatives present in tap water. If it remains stagnant, especially in hot environments, it can deteriorate and alter its flavor and quality.
Recommendations if you are absent for more than 3 days:
- Empty the pitcher completely.
- Wash all its parts with water and neutral soap.
- Dry them properly before storing them.
- If the absence is prolonged, store the filter in the fridge or freezer in an airtight bag or container.
Following these guidelines helps maintain system hygiene and proper filter performance.
4. Not cleaning the carafe weekly
Another of the most common mistakes is not performing a regular cleaning.
The appearance of mineral build up in the jug is not unusual. This is something natural.
How to remove it?
- Add water with a little vinegar
- Leave it in for a few minutes, and gently scrub with a soft sponge
- Rinse thoroughly until no residue remains
To prevent this, we recommend a weekly cleaning.
